This is my first experiment with Deep Dreaming on a video, the dream scene from The Big Lebowski was requested over on /r/deepdream and since it was one of my favorite movies I felt I had to give it a go. I decided to use a lower layer in GoogLeNet, I find the slug dog visuals too distracting. The effect I'm going for here is to give the video a dream like feel reminiscent of the effects people actually receive on hallucinogens that is more fitting with the context of the movie.
The HD version of this video was generated using an Amazon GPU instance and the code can be found on my github here. This is using 5 iterations with 4 octaves of inception_3b/output.
A note about self hosting; Originally I wanted to upload this onto youtube, however youtube default compression and quality setting make this look absolutely horrible. Since I’m already converting to HTML5 video it makes more sense to host the raw video files myself. Be warned if you have a slow connection you are going to have a very bad time. Internet explorer users, use the links provided to download the video if the player is not working, alternativle get a better browser like Chrome or Firefox.

This was the first version I did, originally I was running on my home machine and it was taking a long time so I cut the video resolution to speed up things. Originally I wasent happy with the visual quality but since it gave a dramatically different result to the HD version I though I would upload it as it is interesing to see how the visual change with resolution.
